CCDL RNA-Seq Workshop, Bay Area, CA. Sept 3-5, 2019

June 17, 2019

The Childhood Cancer Data Lab powered by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is hosting a workshop to introduce childhood cancer researchers to reproducible analysis of bulk and single-cell transcriptomic data.

We expect attendees to bring a laptop (running Windows 10 Professional or higher, Mac OS X, or a Linux operating system) and a biological question that relates to transcriptomic data. We do not expect attendees to have programming experience: the material is designed to help attendees get up and running with software used in this domain. Attendees will learn to perform reproducible analyses in Docker containers and record their analyses in an R Markdown notebook.

The workshop will last from 9AM to 5PM on September 3rd, 4th, and 5th. We will provide lunch each day and a workshop dinner one evening for all attendees. Travel grants of $500 are available for childhood cancer researchers traveling from more than 50 miles from the location of the workshop. To receive the grant, researchers should note the request for the travel grant on the application and attend the workshop for all three days

The workshop will take place at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative offices located at 601 Marshall St, Redwood City, CA 94063.

Availability is limited and priority will be given to researchers studying childhood cancers. Researchers studying cancer in general will be admitted if space is available.

Interested researchers must apply. The deadline to register for the workshop is July 31st. Applicants will be notified of their application status on a rolling basis.
